With all the buzz around the city as Richmond became an international stage for the 2015 UCI Road World Championships, we weren’t going to be left out! Members of the Development Office staff as well as a few of our own Sisters took part in FanFest at the convention center during race week, the hub for all UCI related activities. It was certainly an interesting week, and a great opportunity to raise awareness for our home and our RVA French Food Festival. Our booth was quite the hit with our spinning prize wheel, drawing for an apron that was handmade by Resident Sunni Southward, and several fun prizes.
When Sister Elizabeth and Sister Marcelle made their appearance in the booth on Saturday crowds of sometimes more than 20 people at a time lined up to chat with our dear Sisters and a chance at winning a cool pair of French Food Festival sunglasses, a t-shirt, or some vouchers for delicious festival foods and desserts. We even met a group from Brittany, where our foundress St. Jeanne Jugan was from! Though we struggled with the language barrier we had a wonderful time meeting them, and it makes us smile to think of our RVA French Food Festival t-shirts making their way back to Brittany! What a blessing it was to meet people from all over the world, share stories about our home, and hear from some who have been faithful French Food Festival attendees as well as those who are anxious to try it this coming year!
