Three of our Little Sisters went to Washington D.C. on Monday January 23 for the Annual March for Life. Sr. Mary Chantal, Sr. Joseph Marie, and Sr. Paul were joined by several Little Sisters from our home in Washington D.C. to show their support for the Right to Life movement. January was ‘Right to Life’ month and January 23 marked 39 years since the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling legalizing abortion.
During the eve and early morning of the March for Life in Washington, over 20,000 pilgrims attended the National Prayer Vigil for Life, held at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. The Little Sisters felt privileged to be at the heart of the Rally marching for life, and acknowledging that life is sacred from conception until natural death.
As a participant, Sr. Joseph Marie said she hoped the event “would encourage a greater respect for human life, a gift we should all support and love. As Little Sisters, we believe in everyone’s right to a dignified life, which is central to our mission. Our elderly Residents bring so much joy and fulfillment to our lives, and we want to share this happiness we have found with others.”
