We recently had the pleasure of hosting a group of nursing students from South University as they completed their Fundamentals clinical. The group of eight students were with us here at the home for ten weeks, caring for Residents on the first floor under the supervision and guidance of their instruction and our fabulous nursing staff. The clinical is an important part of their studies as they garnered first-hand experience caring for Residents as well as earned credits toward their degree program, the Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Student Nicola Mattis describes her and her classmates’ experience:
“We want to say a special thank you for the entire staff and team at Little Sisters of the Poor for our great clinical experience. From the first day we walked in we were welcomed with open arms, had a great overview from Sister, as well as a magnificent tour of the facility. The staff and residents were very welcoming, and allowed us the opportunity to practice and provide care to our residents, within our scope. Everyone was always willing to help and guide us.
My fellow classmates and I had a wonderful first time clinical experience and we pray that this is an example of our future clinical exposure. We definitely walked out more knowledgeable than we were when we walked in.”
