On a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning, 10 Brownies from Girl Scout Troop 319 out of Saint Bridget School (Richmond, VA) visited with the Residents here at our Home. Almost 20 Residents were able to join the girls for crafts, cookies, and songs. While there, the girls talked and listened – and even found several former Saint Bridget School alumni, as well as one former Girl Scout Leader, who regaled the girls with her stories of cooking over campfires and being marooned at camp during heavy rains.
Throughout the year, the young Brownie had sold Girl Scout cookies. The girls generously decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from those sales to support the elderly Residents here at the Little Sisters of the Poor. It was a lovely moment to watch as the Girl Scouts beamed while presenting Mother Marie with a check from the Troop for $250.00. As the Residents went off to attend morning mass, the Brownies bid them goodbye with a rendition of “You Are My Sunshine” and “Halle Halle Hallelujah.”
