Dear Families and friends,
We are sorry to inform you that despite our best efforts, we have had a positive case of Covid-19 in one of our nursing Residents, who was transported to the hospital. We just received these results this evening, and at this time, we do not feel this was related to our non-direct care staff member who tested positive on July 14, as that employee had no contact with this Resident, and 12 days had passed before symptoms began. We are simply informing you; we have no other information to offer at this time. We are seeking the cause and continuing to practice good hand washing techniques. Since it seems to have come from someone asymptomatic, we are implementing further controls — direct care staff will wear face shields and masks to care for your loved ones and the nursing Residents will be asked to stay in their rooms for possibly two weeks, until we see if there has been any spread. We are watching all of them very carefully and will inform you immediately if we have any suspicions regarding their health status.
This will now place us back into Phase I for Nursing Homes, and any plans for further opening up will have to be put on hold. Even our window visits will have to be suspended for a time due to the fact that the Residents will be staying in their rooms.
We thank you for your prayers and your understanding. Know that we will continue to do our best to keep us all safe here.
