Swingin’ for a Cause: John Deere Landscapes Hosts Charity Golf Tournament to Benefit Little Sisters of the Poor
This week Mother Marie and Sister Jeanne Emmanuel took a quick break from all their hard work here at the home to make an appearance at a charity golf tournament hosted by a local branch of John Deere Landscapes. Arriving early to help with the final preparations, they stuffed goody bags, set them in place on golf carts, greeted participants, and talked with many about our dear Residents and all that goes on here at our home. Doug Smith and Scott Thomas organized the event with the hopes of finding a deserving local charity as recipient of the earnings. They chose the Little Sisters of the Poor after Doug, a parishioner at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, heard Sister Ophelia speak about our home during a recent church collection. John Deere Landscapes is currently in the midst of a transition, in which their name is changing to Site One Landscape Supply, so take a peek at their new website at www.siteone.com. We are so thankful to Doug, Scott, and everyone who came out to support the Little Sisters—we truly could not continue to care for our dear Residents without the generosity of our community. It was a beautiful morning to increase awareness for the Little Sisters of the Poor, raise some money, and play golf!
